  Clarise Tunkin was born in 1993 in Alice Springs, Clarise comes from the community of Kanpi in the  (APY Lands) in South Australia. It is located about 20km south of the Northern Territory border at the base of the Mann Ranges.

Clarise family are grandfather, the great Jimmy Baker, grandmother Kay Baker, aunty Kani Tunkin  and the talented mother Teresa Baker, it is not surprising that Clarise Tunkin is bursting with artistic talent.
Like many of the women in her family, Clarise paints the story of a spiritual ancestor, Malilu. From her mother Teresa and grandmother Kay, Clarise learnt about her country and the sacred stories associated with it, including the story of Minyma (meaning "woman") 
Clarise recalls visiting Marlilu's cave with her mother at age fifteen.

Clarise began painting in 2012,  her talent was recognised when she was selected as a finalist in the 2015 Telstra Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Award, which is held each year at the Art Gallery and Museum of Northern Territory in Darwin.
Clarise has two children and already, still early in her artistic career, she is a much sought-after artist.
